Workshops are run as one-day introductory classes in wood or linocut printmaking and also, in simple bookbinding techniques.

The one-day printmaking without a press workshop, is a great introduction to the very exciting and versatile technique of relief printmaking. Although the technique of wood and linocut is one of the simplest printmaking processes, very sophisticated results can be achieved. Requiring only a few tools and offering a wide range of results.

A step-by-step workshop in creating prints without a press, for beginners and those with limited experience.

Learn how to equip yourself technically so that you are in control of your printmaking and can explore the medium's potential freely. The session will include design and cutting, texture and mark-making and registration. I can also arrange to do follow-up days in wood and linocut workshops for printing in more than one colour.

An introduction to bookbinding will give the complete beginner the skills to produce various notebooks with a variety of bindings.

This is a practical workshop and you will learn how to make several books, using simple stitch techniques. In one day you will cover pamphlet stitch and Japanese Stab Binding, which you can then take away with you.

These adaptable bindings can be used to make your own journals, sketchbooks and notebooks. Making your own books as gifts for family and friends is very satisfying, and for those practitioners wishing to expand their existing techniques it's an opportunity to experiment, while for those with none (or limited) previous experience, these workshops are a supportive environment in which to start.

I accept a maximum of six people per workshop. This is to ensure that I can give you all the attention you will need, plus you will have the support and enthusiasm of other students.

Materials and use of tools are provided, plus a light lunch, tea and coffee.

The workshops run from 10.00 - 4.00.
The fee is £80 for the day.

I run a maximum of four workshops from my studio each year, if you are interested in any of the workshops please use the contact form here.
